in his skills. Thank you for all your time and effort" |

this class for everyone whether new or old to the profession. A Great class,
a must-have for new comers to law enforcement" |

CLASS, excellent help, with an excellent teacher." |

important, as well as relevant. Dean has excellent teaching and

.
I attended Dean's response to an
active shooter course in late February 2007. The training was the best I
ever had. The attention to detail and movement repetition still has me able
to respond today. A few months later I responded to a shots fired call along
with a partner of mine. When I responded I did not have to think or react,
the training and repetition took over. Of course there was that momentary
combat fear that one gets on the way to a high stress call, but the training
took over and before I knew it we were in the building clearing and looking
for a target to engage. Our response time to the incident was less than one
minute. I entered the building and began closed door clearing along with my
partner. After clearing the first room and exiting we came along a corner.
Without thinking, in position 1, I dropped and began clearing the corner
with my partner. After clearing the corner we entered another closed door
classroom and exited in a hallway. We contacted a subject that was on a
telephone. This subject was given verbal commands at gunpoint to drop the
phone. This subject ended up being the caller and stated that the shots
fired came from outside the building. I then utilized the taught response
pattern to clear and search the parking lot area. This type of training can
be utilized in building searches, tactical response, and open area searches.
Thank goodness that this call ended up not being an active shooter or
legitimate shots fired call, but the training was there; embedded in my mind
and I was able to recall the training because of the constant repetition
during the training. Thanks Dean! You gave me some valuable training that
made me respond with warrior confidence and ready for combat.
